Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a transparent, durable and versatile plastic. In fact, these containers are carefully designed to be 100% recyclable and cause minimal damage to the environment.
Polyethylene terephthalate is not considered toxic. Heat treatment of recycled PET flakes removes any volatiles, making them safe and meeting direct food contact requirements.
Polyethylene terephthalate does not affect human health. While many consumers have misconceptions about PET bottles and containers, it does not contain BPA, dioxin, cadmium, or lead.
Therefore, drinking water from a PET bottle that has been left in a hot car, frozen or washed and used more than once poses no risk to human health and is biologically ineffective if ingested.
